What are School Issues in Teens?

School issues can vary from teen to teen, but most often they include academic decline, fights in school, withdrawal from social aspects, and even issues with teachers. These school issues can arise due to the shift in social dynamics as you get older, academic pressure, the onset of puberty, rapid exposure to social media, and mental health struggles.

Clear Behavioral Health helps you work on your academics, learn to manage your stress and emotions, and supports you when navigating your school issues.

Symptoms and Signs of School Issues in Teens

When struggling with school issues, you might notice or experience some of the following physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms:

    • Physical ailments like aching joints, fatigue, and headaches
    • Social withdrawal
    • Academic withdrawal
    • Behavioral changes
    • Easily irritable

These signs and symptoms can create more difficulties than school problems. They can affect your relationships, quality of life, and your future. Seeking professional support can be the first step toward overcoming school issues, healing, and improving your life.

Types of School Issues Teens Struggle With

There are various types of school issues that teens might struggle with, including:

    • Issues with teachers: fighting with teachers, not completing classwork, and being disruptive.
    • Fights at school: this can include physical altercations, yelling matches, and escalation during conflict, like throwing objects
    • Academic decline: not completing homework, grades declining, unable to keep up with the class material
    • Social changes: withdrawing from social situations and friends, seemingly changing personality overnight, being excessively social to the point where you cannot be alone

All of these school issues can arise due to mental health conditions and even teen substance abuse. It’s important to keep an eye out for these behaviors to get help as soon as possible.

How to Help Teens With School Issues

At Clear Behavioral Health, our teen IOP uses evidence-based and holistic modalities so you can find relief from your current struggles. We understand that treatment methods are not a one-size-fits-all. We work to tailor your treatment based on various factors like your background, current school issues, and what you’d like to improve.

Working to identify your emotions, pinpoint negative thoughts, and reconnect your body and mind are the main goals. The coping skills you learn can be used right away, but they will also support you long-term.

Our teen programs are an opportunity to alleviate your symptoms and find relief from ongoing school issues. This does not have to define your teenage years, instead, you can begin a new journey. One where you can tackle your school issues while improving your skills, so you can prevent any further issues from arising.

The multi-pronged approach; the counselors, individual therapy, nutrition, sympathetic/empathetic counselors of each group session shifted my brain paths. You are never finished there, even when you “graduate”, they hold alumni group sessions when you feel you need it. I have nothing but gratitude for their program.

Clear Behavioral Health is my second family that I never knew I had that supported me and continues to passionately support the sober community. The therapists, counselors and group facilitators have been amazing in helping me have a voice, loving myself again, and seeing the world in a new light. I am eternally grateful.

From the get go, the staff made me feel welcome and were all very friendly. My therapist and case manager were also very helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. I found that the somatic therapy was the most valuable for me, the therapist who ran those groups was great. My biggest takeaway from treatment was to take the time to pause, not be afraid to ask for help, and not worry about things in the moment. If you are looking for meaningful change and being part of a new and supportive community, then Clear Behavioral Health is the right fit.

Overall I loved the experience and did not want to leave. The staff was very helpful and motivated me to stay even when I felt like running away. I also built meaningful connections with my therapist and case manager who gave me a lot of useful advice and are still supporting me today. Since leaving, my family and sponsor have noticed a big difference, and I could not recommend a more supportive environment for addiction and mental health treatment, Clear saved my life.
