Opioid Detox Program in Los Angeles, California
Detox from Opioids and Opiates
Excessive opioid use can lead to psychological and physical dependence that is difficult to overcome on your own. This class of drugs includes morphine, oxycodone, and fentanyl, which act directly on your brain’s pain receptors and reward centers. For this reason, they are highly addictive, and many people become addicted to opioids very quickly.
Opioid withdrawal may set in within hours of last use and can be extremely physically and psychologically uncomfortable. The intensity that often accompanies opioid withdrawal can discourage people from seeking treatment.
Without proper support, many people who attempt to quit abusing opiates without professional assistance will relapse. Clear Behavioral Health can help you during this process by assisting you through opioid detox in a safe, home-like facility so you can prepare for the next stages of recovery and take advantage of our full continuum of care.

What is the Continuum of Care?
Many mental health and addiction treatment services available today are isolated services, meaning you have to search for each level of care individually. You might find a detox program in one place, but have to look for therapy sessions elsewhere, and go through the hassle to verify each service is in-network with your insurance.
At Clear Behavioral Health, we’ve built our programs to specifically bridge that gap and offer all of the mental health and addiction services under one roof, and in-network with most insurance providers. From residential detox and rehab to outpatient individual and group therapy sessions, our care continues. So you can focus on the most important thing, your healing, and leave the paperwork to us.

How our opioid detox program works
Our opioid detox program starts with an assessment of your opioid addiction and your symptoms.
After your assessment, you’ll enter our residential detox program in the Los Angeles, CA area, to safely detox in a residential home. The next step in our process is rehabilitation. Our rehab offers around-the-clock care, therapy services, group support, case management sessions for relapse prevention, and holistic therapy.
After rehabilitating, you can continue care in our outpatient partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP) with locations all around the Los Angeles, CA area.
Once you’ve completed care, you’ll have continued access to support either online or in person, our extensive alumni community, and the opportunity to support others in their recovery journey.
First step: assessment
You’ll begin with a full medical assessment to determine the severity of your opioid addiction, the accompanying symptoms, and where you are in your recovery journey.
Once we can identify your needs and how we can best help you, we will work with you to create a personalized treatment program, and you can begin the detox process to clear all traces of opioids or opiates from your system.
Next, medically assisted opioid detox
During detox, you will receive around-the-clock medical supervision and support in a semi-private, comfortable residential detox home.
You may receive medications to ease some of your most difficult symptoms and meet with our psychiatrist, who will monitor your symptoms and adjust these medications as needed. You will also receive psychological support from a counselor as you get through this first phase of treatment.
What to Expect After Detoxing from Opioids
While opioid detox is an essential first step in your recovery plan, it is not a standalone process. After medical detox, you must address the underlying causes behind your opioid use. Most people who enter our medical detox center at Clear Behavioral Health will continue their healing journey in our residential recovery program.
Wherever your journey begins, after completing your treatment, you’ll become part of our supportive alumni community, offering encouragement and inspiration to others on their path to recovery. Our programs are carefully designed to include individual and group therapy, comprehensive case management, holistic treatments, and medication management. This integrated approach ensures a detox and addiction treatment plan that promotes healing at every stage. These programs include:
Individual therapy
Weekly sessions with a therapist to help you explore the underlying causes of your addiction, identify your triggers, and develop coping strategies to last a lifetime.
Medication management
If necessary, our clinicians will prescribe and monitor medications to manage addiction withdrawal symptoms and support recovery.
Case management
Weekly case management meetings will help you develop life skills, build healthy daily routines, and support reintegration into your daily life.
Group therapy
Daily group therapy sessions help you to build a supportive network of peers and explore therapeutic techniques like CBT, mindfulness, and relapse prevention.
Holistic groups
Yoga, meditation, sound baths, and other holistic therapies are practiced daily to restore balance between your mind and body.
We are in-network.

What is Opioid Detox?
Opiate detox helps you get through the challenging first few days after quitting opioid use. It also prepares you physically and psychologically for the next steps of treatment. When you begin opioid detox at Clear Behavioral Health, you can safely withdraw with the help of our professional medical team.
Throughout this process, we will monitor you physically and psychologically, administer additional medications to address uncomfortable symptoms, and provide you with compassionate support to help you successfully detox from opiates.
How Does Detoxing From Opioids Affect the Brain?
Using opiates or opioids for a substantial period dramatically alters your brain chemistry. When you take opioids, they attach to brain receptors that block pain signals and release significant amounts of dopamine. When dopamine is released, it provides a pleasurable sensation that motivates you to continue using opioids to generate the same response.
Opioids also trigger the release of endorphins, creating feelings of happiness and elation. Chronic use of opiates leads to psychological dependence. Lasting brain changes may contribute to a change in the baseline of the mesolimbic reward pathways, making it difficult to feel pleasure without continued opioid use.
The Psychological Effects of Opioid Detox
Once you stop taking opiates, your brain will still act as though it needs them to function, resulting in an overwhelming emotional response as withdrawal symptoms set in.
Because there is an imbalance in neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, you may experience significant psychological effects, including anxiety, depression, cognitive changes, and insomnia. The urge to use them again can be overwhelming without the proper physical and psychological support.
While people may initially take opiates as a way to control or manage pain and stress, long-term use increases adverse risks. This risk intensifies as the quantity and strength of drugs used increase.
Some people may start off using prescription opioids like hydrocodone and oxycodone. However, over time, they may start using heroin or fentanyl in an attempt to achieve their desired effects, which leads to an increased risk of overdose and death.

What drugs are used for opioid detox?
To ensure a safe and comfortable opioid detox, we tailor medications based on the severity of withdrawal symptoms. The following drugs are commonly used in opioid detoxification: methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone. These medications help manage cravings, pain, nausea, and other withdrawal effects by reducing the brain’s response to opioids. These treatments support a smoother detox process, allowing for a safer transition into recovery.
At Clear, medications are only used under the supervision of a licensed medical professional and when necessary. Our strong belief is that medications are just one part of a personalized, comprehensive treatment plan, used in combination with our treatment programs. All medication decisions are made in collaboration with your needs, and medication selection is dependent on your unique medical history, current health status, health goals, and other factors.
What are three things that can help with opioid withdrawal?
The three things that can help with opioid withdrawals are staying hydrated, eating a fiber-rich, balanced meal, and having a medical professional administer medication that manages withdrawal symptoms. Give our team a call today to learn more about our opioid addiction treatment options in Los Angeles, CA.
What foods are good for opioid withdrawal?
A high fiber diet with lots of carbohydrates is beneficial to your opioid withdrawal process and can make symptoms less severe. Common withdrawal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting can create an imbalance in your body’s electrolytes.
