Biography

Rae Lacanlale is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, storyteller, artist, and former tech professional who brings both clinical training and lived experience into their work. They earned their Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, guided by a strong service-oriented mindset and a deep passion for mental health care that is compassionate, accessible, culturally responsive, and socially responsible.

As a neurodivergent and queer therapist of color, Rae specializes in supporting teens and adults as they learn about and integrate ADHD and autism diagnoses. They are especially passionate about working with neurodivergent folx, queer folx, and individuals exploring their identities after a lifetime of masking or “being strong.” As a late-diagnosed autistic person, Rae brings humility, lived experience, and a deep belief in inner resilience to the therapeutic space.

Rae’s approach is narrative, client-centered, and insight-oriented. Therapy with Rae is collaborative, warm, and intentionally non-traditional. They encourage clients to come as the people they are, rather than the mental health challenges they have. Whether asking thoughtful, deeper questions or celebrating a small but meaningful win, Rae views therapy as a creative process—expressive, evolving, and uniquely shaped by each individual.

Their work often supports individuals navigating identity shifts, anxiety, trauma, grief, neurodivergence, and the ongoing effort of living in complex systems. As a first-generation, queer child of working-class immigrants, Rae approaches therapy through a decolonized lens, honoring the impact of culture, community, and intergenerational experiences.

Whether exploring intergenerational trauma, experimenting with somatic practices, or bringing a bit of playfulness into session, Rae meets clients with curiosity, compassion, and a readiness to walk alongside them as they grow.
