Opioid Addiction Treatment in Los Angeles, California

Struggling with opioid addiction?

You don’t have to face it alone.

Opioid addiction, also referred to as opioid use disorder, can feel overwhelming, leaving you trapped and powerless against its grip. Prescription opioids like oxycodone and hydrocodone may have initially provided relief for severe pain or stress, but over time, they can begin to control your life and lead to a risk of use of heroin, or even fentanyl.

Increased use of opiates of any kind can lead to overdose and death. If you’ve found yourself unable to stop or cut back despite harmful consequences, intense cravings, or withdrawal symptoms, know that you don’t have to face this alone. At Clear Behavioral Health, we provide compassionate, expert care to help you overcome opioid addiction and reclaim your life.

Detox from opioids safely

Detoxing from opioids can be challenging and potentially dangerous without medical supervision. Our detox program ensures a safe and monitored withdrawal process, helping to manage symptoms and discomfort effectively with the help of prescribed medicine from our doctor to ease your opioid withdrawal symptoms.

Our detox program is clinically supervised and has on-site nursing staff and regular check–ins with a doctor to ensure a more manageable withdrawal from heroin and the associated symptoms.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) & Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

When you don’t require residential care, or are transitioning from it, or are looking for a more elevated level of care than a weekly therapy session, our PHP and IOP programs offer structured support while allowing you to maintain certain aspects of your daily routine.

Both programs include one-on-one and group therapy sessions with medication management where needed, case management sessions on an individual and group level, and our holistic therapy. Our outpatient treatment programs allow a more flexible schedule to live at home while attending the program during the day or evening and provides a community of mentors, relapse prevention education, personalized assessments, and holistic healing methods, and our PHP and IOP treatments ensure sustainable mind-body wellness.

What is opioid addiction?

Opioid addiction is a chronic condition characterized by the compulsive and uncontrollable use of illicit or prescribed opioids despite negative consequences. These substances, often prescribed for pain relief, can lead to physical dependence and addiction when used improperly or for extended periods.

Recreational use has fluctuated but has risen significantly in the past 30 years. Opioids interact with opioid receptors to alleviate pain and anxiety and can include a euphoric feeling when misused (Monwell, 2024).

When addiction develops, the brain and body become reliant on opioids to function, resulting in cravings and withdrawal symptoms when the drug is reduced or stopped.

Substance abuse can shift focus from managing pain to avoiding the debilitating effects of withdrawal. It’s not a sign of weakness or failure—opioid addiction is a complex disorder that requires medical and therapeutic intervention to achieve recovery.

Signs and symptoms of opioid addiction

Early recognition of the signs and symptoms of heroin addiction is crucial for early intervention. Opioid addiction often manifests in several physical, psychological, behavioral, and social changes.

Some common indicators are:

  • Constricted ‘pinned’ pupils
  • Drowsiness or frequent nodding off
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Neglected appearance
  • Withdrawing from family and friends
  • Constipation
  • Slurred intelligible speech
  • Incessant scratching

Other indicators can include:

  • Powder residue on countertops and/or mirrors
  • Disassembled pens
  • Excessive prescription bottles discarded

Opioid dependence:

Many people begin taking opiates through a prescription for pain or after surgery, but the use can quickly turn to dependence if you begin to take more of the medication to get the same effect (tolerance).

Missing a dose of opioids will cause extreme withdrawal symptoms. As prescriptions run out, a person struggling with opioid dependence may seek out illegal opioids, including pressed pills, heroin, and fentanyl.

A person’s dependence on opiates can affect the person’s ability to be consistent with work, participate in relationships, and meet their other responsibilities.
