Expert Care for Burnout

Burnout is a phrase used to describe having a constant lack of energy, no desire to do anything, and an overall dampness to your personality. The demands of everyday life, relationships, work and world events makes burnout, unfortunately, common. Finding support for burnout can help you build skills and find healing to get back to your life.

Our effective burnout treatment programs in California help you manage your burnout symptoms, provide valuable resources, and restore balance to your life.

Treatment for Burnout at Clear Behavioral Health

At Clear Behavioral Health, treatment for burnout is tackled from a comprehensive lens. We make sure to target the body and mind in order to reconnect them for long-term improvement.

Our burnout treatment program is focused on returning balance in your day-to-day life. We offer burnout treatment through our residential, virtual and in-person Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and our in-person Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Our programs are conveniently in-network with most insurance providers so you can focus on your treatment.

Our treatment programs are available in our residential and outpatient facilities throughout the Los Angeles, CA area, as well as our online treatment option for those looking for a more convenient way to treat burnout.

Initial Assessment

Before beginning treatment, we conduct a thorough assessment to learn more about your history with burnout. Understanding your current burnout symptoms, any past experiences of burnout, figuring out the source of your burnout, and any mental health conditions you may be managing are all questions that may be asked.

The assessment is detailed and extensive, and allows our team to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and to place you into the right level of care.

What to Expect with PHP and IOP for Burnout

Depending on the severity of your burnout, you’ll enter the program that best suits your needs. You might start with PHP, and as you make progress, you’ll move into our IOP level of treatment.

Both our PHP and IOP programs offer individual and group therapy, case management sessions, holistic therapy, and medication management to provide support for managing and overcoming burnout. These programs include:

Individual Therapy

Meeting with a therapist once a week will give you the opportunity to better understand the causes of burnout, the symptoms you are experiencing, and to gain the tools to relieve your symptoms.

Our therapists are educated in effective therapy methods such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), somatic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement sensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and gestalt therapy and will work with you to find what works best.

Medication Management

If burnout is causing mental health symptoms that can be better managed with medication, our clinicians will work with you to find the best medication to help mediate your symptoms.

Case Management

Once a week, you will have a case management session to help you develop tools and skills to manage your time and responsibilities in daily life. These skills are incredibly useful for after treatment when burnout manifests throughout your life.

Group Therapy

In our programs, you will attend daily group therapy sessions. Working through your problems in a group allows you to connect and find support from others also dealing with similar conditions, and heal together with your peers. These sessions are on topics such as skills building, relationship building, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Holistic Groups

You’ll join our holistic therapy groups, which include meditation for mindfulness, stress, yoga, sound baths, and more. Mindfulness has been proven as a successful skill to bring us back into our bodies through breathwork and these holistic groups remind you to stay present.

    What is Burnout?

Burnout is a consistent state of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion that is caused by chronic stress. It leads to feelings of detachment, cynicism, and decreased productivity. It can cause significant disruptions in your personal life and place you at risk of developing other mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression.

There are different stages of burnout which present unique challenges. You may notice stress starting to accumulate at first, then it can become overwhelming. Persistent chronic stress can lead to burnout and become a part of your daily life.

    • Excessive stress

    • Withdrawing from responsibilities and procrastination

Burnout symptoms can wreak havoc in your day-to-day and negatively impact your quality of life. Reaching out for help is the first step toward achieving balance.

    Types of Burnout

The most talked-about burnout type is job burnout, but other types do exist, which should be taken just as seriously.

    • Job Burnout – Workplace burnout is a type of work-related stress that occurs when someone feels overwhelmed and unable to cope with the demands of their job, or lacks work-life balance. Symptoms of job burnout can look like physical and mental exhaustion, disillusionment, and unfulfilment. Left untreated, job burnout can lead to occupational consequences or serious health problems such as anxiety, depression, and heart disease.
    • Caregiver Burnout – Caregivers experience burnout due to having a lot of different responsibilities to juggle, which leaves them with no time for themselves. Caregiver burnout can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion, as well as feelings of cynicism and detachment.
    • Relationship Burnout – Burnout can happen in any kind of relationship, whether it’s with a romantic partner, friend, or family member. It’s often a result of unresolved issues that have been simmering for a long time. Eventually, the tension and stress of the situation become too much to bear, leading to a feeling of burnout. This can manifest as resentment, frustration, and even hatred. If left untreated, burnout can destroy relationships and, in some cases, it can even lead to divorce.
    • School Burnout – Students who are constantly pressured to achieve perfect grades may be more likely to experience burnout. The same is true for those who are juggling multiple extracurricular activities or working long hours. School burnout is characterized by a lack of motivation, persistent fatigue, and feelings of hopelessness. Unfortunately, burnout is often mistaken for laziness or a lack of intelligence. It’s usually caused by too much stress and pressure. If left untreated, burnout can lead to serious academic problems, including poor grades and dropping out of school altogether.

Oftentimes, these types of burnout can be coupled with mental health conditions or can even be the cause of certain mental health conditions to arise. Additionally, you might find comfort in self-medicating to deal with stress which can lead to drug addiction. At Clear Behavioral Health, we help treat your burnout and mental health conditions in tandem.

The multi-pronged approach; the counselors, individual therapy, nutrition, sympathetic/empathetic counselors of each group session shifted my brain paths. You are never finished there, even when you “graduate”, they hold alumni group sessions when you feel you need it. I have nothing but gratitude for their program.

Clear Behavioral Health is my second family that I never knew I had that supported me and continues to passionately support the sober community. The therapists, counselors and group facilitators have been amazing in helping me have a voice, loving myself again, and seeing the world in a new light. I am eternally grateful.

      • star star star star star

From the get go, the staff made me feel welcome and were all very friendly. My therapist and case manager were also very helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. I found that the somatic therapy was the most valuable for me, the therapist who ran those groups was great. My biggest takeaway from treatment was to take the time to pause, not be afraid to ask for help, and not worry about things in the moment. If you are looking for meaningful change and being part of a new and supportive community, then Clear Behavioral Health is the right fit.

Overall I loved the experience and did not want to leave. The staff was very helpful and motivated me to stay even when I felt like running away. I also built meaningful connections with my therapist and case manager who gave me a lot of useful advice and are still supporting me today. Since leaving, my family and sponsor have noticed a big difference, and I could not recommend a more supportive environment for addiction and mental health treatment, Clear saved my life.
