Why did you decide to get sober, or what turn of events lead you to Clear Behavioral Health?

I was just done. Emotionally, physically, and spiritually done. I proved to myself thoroughly that I was an alcoholic and an addict and I couldn’t get sober on my own. So I reached out to my parents for help and they reached out to a friend of mine I got sober with two and a half years ago. That friend found Clear Behavioral Health for my parents and I couldn’t be more grateful that Clear is the place that was found to get me sober.

How has your perspective on life changed since beginning recovery?

I was hopeless before getting sober. I wanted to die every day and would be disappointed every morning when I would wake up. Today, I feel nothing but gratitude for my second lease on life and I have all the hope in the world for what life has to offer. My perspective on life has done a complete 180 degree turn since beginning recovery.

What are you looking forward to most now that you are in recovery?

I have learned so much about myself in recovery so far and still have so much more to learn. I’d say the biggest thing I’ve learned about myself in recovery, however, is that I matter. That I have a positive affect on people’s lives around me and that I have so much to offer people that are struggling and feeling the feelings I felt before I got sober.

What have you learned about yourself in recovery?

Just put one foot in front of the other and don’t use no matter what. Find a sponsor and do everything that sponsor tells you to do like your life depends on it. Because it does. And before you know it, things will get better!
