What to Expect with a PHP and IOP for Anger Management

Uncontrolled anger is something that can be relieved when worked on properly. Depending on the level of care you require, you might start with PHP, and as you make progress, you’ll move into our IOP level of treatment.

Both our PHP and IOP programs offer individual and group therapy, case management sessions, holistic therapy, and medication management to provide support for managing and overcoming anger issues. These programs include:

Individual Therapy

Meeting with a therapist once a week will give you the opportunity to figure out what your triggers to anger are, what the root cause of your anger is, and how to best control it.

You will work with a trained mental health professional using evidence-based therapies to better understand the root cause of your anger and develop tools to express your anger in a more productive way.

Medication Management

If anger issues are causing mental health symptoms that can be better managed with medication, our clinicians will work with you to find the best medication to help mediate your symptoms.

Case Management

Once a week, you will have a case management session to learn real-life skills that can be implemented towards managing your anger right away. These sessions can also help you with any life issues like work concerns, relationship concerns, or more, so you feel supported and guided throughout your entire treatment process.

Group Therapy

In our programs, you will attend daily group therapy sessions. Working through your problems in a group allows you to connect, hear others talk about their anger management, how they handle it, or even feedback on how you can control your own anger.

These sessions are on topics such as skills building, relationship building, anger management classes, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Holistic Groups

Holistic groups give you the opportunity to try different modalities in order to reconnect the body and mind. This can be through relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga, or breathwork. When you work on regulating your nervous system, you are able to really pinpoint where your anger resides and work on releasing it through more constructive ways.

    What are Anger Issues?

When someone is battling anger issues, it means they have trouble expressing or controlling their anger. Anger is a natural emotion, so feeling angry sometimes is a normal human reaction.

When you have anger management issues, though, you likely feel it more frequently or more strongly than other people. You might lack emotional control or struggle with effective communication skills, which makes it hard to vocalize or express your negative feelings in a healthy way. This can lead to issues with family, partners, work colleagues, and friends.

I can’t say enough good things about Clear Behavioral Health. The care that I received was exceptional. The staff are very professional and committed to providing outstanding treatment. They go out of their way to cultivate an atmosphere of compassion, awareness, and recovery.

The multi-pronged approach; the counselors, individual therapy, nutrition, sympathetic/empathetic counselors of each group session shifted my brain paths. You are never finished there, even when you “graduate”, they hold alumni group sessions when you feel you need it. I have nothing but gratitude for their program.

Clear Behavioral Health is my second family that I never knew I had that supported me and continues to passionately support the sober community. The therapists, counselors and group facilitators have been amazing in helping me have a voice, loving myself again, and seeing the world in a new light. I am eternally grateful.

From the get go, the staff made me feel welcome and were all very friendly. My therapist and case manager were also very helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. I found that the somatic therapy was the most valuable for me, the therapist who ran those groups was great. My biggest takeaway from treatment was to take the time to pause, not be afraid to ask for help, and not worry about things in the moment. If you are looking for meaningful change and being part of a new and supportive community, then Clear Behavioral Health is the right fit.

Overall I loved the experience and did not want to leave. The staff was very helpful and motivated me to stay even when I felt like running away. I also built meaningful connections with my therapist and case manager who gave me a lot of useful advice and are still supporting me today. Since leaving, my family and sponsor have noticed a big difference, and I could not recommend a more supportive environment for addiction and mental health treatment, Clear saved my life.
